Bushing a Prop
« on: May 06, 2017, 10:34:00 AM »
I'm not sure this is the right section to ask, but...

What are you guys using to to reduce the diameter of a propeller hole, when it is too large for the engine's shaft diameter. Brass tubing? CF extrusion?... Thanks all!

Jim Lee has 1/4" i.d. prop bushings in two different o.d.s, don't know if he offers any other sizes.

Serge I've used the telescoping aluminum K&S tubing from the hardware store.  May take two or three sizes to get you sleeved down.  A drop of cyA keeps the sleeves together when changing props etc. Trying to fill the hole and re-drill can be pretty hard to get perfect without some pretty fancy jigging.

best, easiest  to use is  either spinner bushings, or  tubing, I just take aluminum tubing, roll a razor blade over it, and you can cut your own bushings in no time, different diameter tubes  will make it possible to bush most any prop

A short piece of fiberglass arrow shaft works to go from 1/4" to 5/16".

How about some fuel line?
I've heard it used for 1/2A's, but as long as the prop stays on center as you get the nut tight, you should be good, especially if the thrust washer has a not too sloppy fit to the shaft.
