     FBI/CIA HQ urgently recommends that sentries be posted and all bridges blown.  Carpetbaggin' yankee scoundrels (from NJ no less) are developing plans to infiltrate.

Oct 8~9 looking good for me to make the 7 hr drive to Glue Dobber doings

Tom:

I can't tell you how EXCITING that news is!  In the back of my mind I sure HOPED that maybe one of you yank's could make it out this way... but wow!!! This is fantastic news!!

Fred:

Bring 'em! I'm sure SOMEBODY will gladly fly them for you!  Looking forward to meeting you!  That's what Saturday is all about: FUN and FELLOWSHIP.

All:

Don't forget, if you're still the type that likes to slice streamers, there will be the 75 MPH Speed Limit Combat on Sunday!

Looking forward to this!
My first exposure to Control line was in the mid 60's as a kid at Scott Township municipal park in Pittsburgh, PA.
Some teen had an Orange and Black VooDoo zinging on the wires. The old Combat planes are still the coolest looking C/L models!

Hi All:

For those of you that are intending to be a part of the Gluedobbers 75 MPH Combat event on Sunday, October 9th, below you will find additional information!

* Entry Fee: $15

* Pilots meeting: 9 AM.

* Streamers will be provided by the contest management.

* Awards to the first 3 places.

Below is a link to the AMA Combat Rules pdf file that will detail the various general requirements for Slow Combat. Following the link below will be the additional/amended portions pertinent to the Gluedobbers 75 MPH Combat event on Sunday, October 9.

The link:

https://www.modelaircraft.org/files/2015-2016CLCombat.pdf

The amendments:

CONTROL LINE SLOW COMBAT FOR EVENT 329.

1. General. Applicability, equipment, purpose, rules, procedures, and judging are the same as CL Combat, except as specified below.

2. Aircraft Specifications.

    a. Any aircraft configuration is allowed.
    b. Engines will have a maximum displacement of .40 c.i.
    c. Any fuel system is allowed.
    d. Carburetors must be fixed. Changing “throttle” while airborne, any form, is not allowed.

3. Procedure. A kill (i.e. cutting the string leader so that no portion of the streamer remains) does not end the match. Either or both competitors may score a kill in the same match. Not more than one (1) kill may be scored by one (1) competitor in a match. Once both strings have been cut, at a signal from the judge, both fliers must fly level and counterclockwise. The fliers shall fly level and counterclockwise in such a manner as to avoid midair collisions, near misses, etc. 4. Scoring. A kill counts 100 points.

4. Models will be timed at the first of the match. They may not run less than 7.3 seconds in two laps pulling a full streamer. If an airplane exceeds this mark it must be grounded and repaired to meet this specification before starting the combat match.  An aircraft maintaining the 7.3 seconds in two laps will continue receiving his airtime while his opponent is down repairing his aircraft.

5. Fuel shutoffs are not required, but may be used at pilots discretion.

It's been years since the Gluedobbers have hosted an honest-to-goodness Combat event... so come on out and let's give it a shot! Hope to see you there!

Somebody please take the time to shoot some video of this event. It would be a shame not to preserve it. y1

Doc:

We're prayin' the Lord is willin'!

Mike:

I do not have the means to shoot quality video. (Actually, I've never even used the video capability on my rather dated phone, either.)  Hopefully, someone will. For sure the 'Dobbers photographer, Elwyn Aud, will be taking lots of pictures and, being shot by Elwyn, they will be excellent.
