The colors and scheme look great Ty, very "60's" and very fitting for the model. y1

Funny how "old" colors never really go out of style - they are classic in themselves and simply suit this gorgeous model.

Really sorry to hear that.
I have a newbie question for you-
What made you decide to want to go to 60' lines from 62?
Thanks,
Chris

Hi, TY

A bit of advice from The Man.  Do not bother with an Ares over 40oz.  This by private phone conversation.  I totally agree, they just do not fly the same regardless of the power.  Aaron's new, RTF was 34oz.  Strange but true.  He picked through my contest stacks and weighted them and did not use a piece over 5lbs., almost ALL were 4lb. to 4.5lb.  Of course, it cost me $$$$ to replace all the wood he "stole" but, heck, I'm the "Old Man" so it didn't matter!!  First engine was a Randy Smith OS .32F (run as Billy said to run it!) and after a refinish he used a Magnum .36 XLS and with that he won his class at Brodak in Classic.  The ClC kit is the '58 Ares, better to stick with the '59. y1
We have cut out a pair of '62 Ares, and will use AT.36s in them.  Love all of Billy's planes! Especially the I-beams, never flew a better plane than the USA-1 I had. Ask Derek about that one.....

Hi Bill. I have a 62 Ares cut out but at present am painting a Super Ares. Hawaiian Teal, white, gold and dark green trim. ST .46.  I picked it up for a song from Tom Morris. Love to visit his shop. No money required, he just send me a bill. That way I buy stuff I want, but don't need. LL~ LL~ LL~ LL~ LL~ y1 y1

I have the Brodak kit of the Ares, might even build it this year.

Hi Ty,

The Brodak kit is a pretty good representation of the '59 Ares.  I had originally intended to build a Super Ares, but too many projects..... Billy just told me to build all of his designs as light as I could since all of his fly much better light.  I really need to weigh my I-Beam Vulcan, it has some age now and I would like to see what it weighs.  Excellent flying model with an AT .36 which is plenty of power for that little plane!

We need to meet up again, before too long!

I know this is an old thread, but I have a question.   What would be a good engine for the Brodak Ares kit?   I want something new, but will fit properly and have the right power.

Fox 35 fly them OK but a Brodak 40 would be great. Even better would be a Rustler 40 but they are hard to find.  I think OS/46 and ST/46 are to heavy and need to much fuel. <=

I say a Brodak 40 or Aerotiger 36. Both are lightweight and powerful.
