Today I have notified several people in the NCS (but only those that accept my email) that I have resigned my "Life" membership. It was not an easy letter to write. I first joined the NCS in 1984, accepted the job of Nats ED twice (1989 & 1995) I also attended several other Nats and helped run the Carrier events. I was the NCS president for two terms and did manage to install 2 awards that were to be given out at each Nats. During those years I also designed, built and shipped over 200 Carrier kits, as well as two brochures on how to get started in flying Carrier and also built and sold dozens of 3-line bellcranks of my own design. For the past several years I have been the NW News person for the CLW magazine.
Now in my dotage, I find that it is too difficult to deal with the problem between myself and the NCS. I will not mention these problems in this message. What I will mention is that Navy Carrier flying has not diminished, but entry in competition events has done so. The interest in just having fun flying a Carrier type plane remains strong.
Enough of an old man's trials and tribulations. I hope that the NCS continues. I sincerely hope that your interest in flying a 3-line (or 2.4 equipped plane) continues to have meaning for you. I hope that your membership or interest in the NCS grows and continues. I also hope that I can meet you in person at the future Brodak contests, or at the few Carrier events I attend in the NW.
Tight lines, slow speed and 100 point landings to you all!
Joe
