17 planes entered so far.

Please, enter soon if you haven't already done so. We need good entry numbers so the proper number of awards can be ordered.

Thanks!

We have had people enter the day before a carrier event.  Headquarters said we had to process and let them fly.

The "Drop Dead" cut-off for entry is 5:00 PM, Monday, July 18. Processing starts immediately thereafter.

Since NCS has to foot the bill on a portion of the awards, the sooner we know entry numbers, the better job we can do projecting the trophy count.

Darn Bob, I didn't realize you already had started a subject about the 2016 carrier NATs I'll try to move my reply into this thread. It sure looks like 2016 will busy at the carrier sight. Bark loud if your the one asking for a hand, remember most of use are close to being deaf. See you there.

Close, close to deaf? Well ok , anyway I'll help as much as I can. But, I struck gold after Brodak, after being chased by the TSA And FAA I found two places to fly, one nearby so I should have some stuff ready
John

PS there will be some more unofficial registrations. I never do it til I get there per Dick Perry's request years ago.

I was trying to see the date on the cover of the magazine and I think it is 1957? I lived next to Los Alamitos  Naval air Station 1944 to 1956 and saw a lot of these planes flying around and they were a very impressive sight to see. I wonder if anyone ever scored high flying one of these back in the day in a carrier contest.

The Randall Tigercat won in I think 61 and 63 maybe. I'm at work now I will check the set of plans that I have at home later. The won by just having enough fuel in the outboard tank for the high speed then it would quit and the plane would yaw out for low. I woukd like to build one one day just like they did even though i would sacrifice the twin bonus.

Bob -

Thanks for the continued update on the Nats -- I wonder if it would be possible to get some blank forms, so that we can arrive with them already filled out (up to a point).   It might save some of the 'traffic jam' in the processing area.  If you could, perhaps post a form here and we could print out as many as many as needed.  Just a thought --

Mike,

I have an e-mail off to Dick Perry requesting a copy of the form. I'll post as soon as I have something.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Update:

PROCESSING
Processing for all events will occur on Monday (18 July) from 5:00 to 6:00 pm at the McCullough Learning Center.  Processing must be accomplished no later than the day prior to scheduled flying for the event.  Processing should be accomplished on Monday.   For contestants unable to process on Monday for Wednesday or Thursday events, officials may process models when time allows during the periods scheduled for competition.  Early processing is a change from 2012 and earlier procedures.  To facilitate processing and reduce official workload, entries will not be accepted after 5:00 pm on Monday, 18 July.  Fees must be submitted with official entry.  Unofficial events require submission of entry forms, but fees will be collected during processing.

Processing Forms attached.

Not just the twin bonus but also half the low speed points.  A rule change aimed directly at Randell.

The 2016 Navy Carrier NATS is officially completed. We enjoyed great weather on Tuesday and Wednesday. The winds picked up on Thursday and made life interesting for some of the flights. The score sheets pretty much tell the rest of the story. There were some great flights, perhaps more than our share of the usual gremlins, and early attrition, especially in the electric classes, that settled some of the classes pretty quickly. Everyone pitched in to make sure the contest ran smoothly. Thanks! Burt Brokaw won the Eugene Ely award.

Bob, I want to join the others and thank you for being the go to guy that made this NATs a success. If it wasn't for rare people like you that will come forward and take on running our contest and hold the whole thing together we wouldn't exist.
I also want to congratulate the contestants that showed up and competed in the contest. It is always special when a group of people gather together to enjoy their sport and share with each other and are shouldering the labor that it takes to keep things moving. A great group of people.

I appreciate your generous comments, but must emphasize that at some point or another EVERYONE pitched in to make this work. I never had to ask for timers or judges. Someone was always available to launch the next plane. True teamwork was the order of the day. It was a pleasure to do my part!
