My New Trick!
« on: January 19, 2017, 12:37:48 PM »
I made this discovery by accident and I'm not afraid to admit it! ;D

After I got the wing installed I noticed that the push rod was rubbing on something. I thought it was the bulkhead at the TE so I cut a hole in it as described in the drawing. To my chargrin that wasn't it! It was rubbing the wings top sheeting. DOH! What to do?

I cut another hole in the bottom and through both bottom and top sheeting to relieve the push rod. (Don't you just love scratch building!?)

Its back together now and ready for sanding and silkspan. Whew!

My build process goes like this: fit, glue. Break something or two. Fix it. Assembly and break some more. Gave up on perfection and I'm a lot happier now.

That works well for me, but the hatch always seems to end up sunken into the surface a bit.  If it's important I make another one to fit the hole, that'll stand a bit proud so that I can sand it off flush.

The problem with electric is that once you get the smoke generator and sound system installed, the plane is too heavy.
