Top Flite Junior Aces Series Kits
« on: December 17, 2016, 02:10:43 PM »
The subject line of this post is a series of kits Top Flite put out back in the late 60s and early 70's. There was a Cosmic Wind, a P-51B, and a Hawker Hurricane. I just posted a want add in the classifieds looking for any of these kits. I'm especially interested in the Cosmic Wind and the P-51B kits, as I have the Hurricane already. My late little brother Jim had the Cosmic Wind as a kid and is the main reason for my interest in that kit. They look like reasonably well laid out designs and hope to build one soon. Goldberg Models had one similar in a P-40, and I have that one also. Just want to add them to my little collection of memories and hopefully build a couple soon to fly. Anyone else have any experience with these kits, or know of anyone that has plans and parts patterns for them?
Thanks a lot in advance and,
    HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Thanks John. That may help jog a few more memories. I tried a search on here several times and came up with didley! Must not have a good touch with the buttons or something. I'm sure that in this day and age, some one has done a full on CAD drawing of the kits with the parts shown, just gotta find them.
  Thanks again and HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Due to Dan's interest in the TF Jr Ace P-51B, I did some research and drew up a set of plans. Not real detailed but quite build-able. This is all basically based on a three view scan of the Hurricane with some other web search help. I think the airfoil is pretty accurate, at least it matches the three view pretty well.  Have fun

By the way here is the TF Huricanne I used as reference. The orange P-51 overlay is mine. The P-51 plan is a bit more accurate.

These brought back memories of the "formed" fuse shells that Top Flight also kitted back in the 60's if memory serves, they were also WW-II  fighters, seems that they were powered with .049 engines, does any else remember these?
