RK I opened my kit and checked it out.Seems pretty straight forward. The nose was definitely designed for the Cox TD 049/051. any other engines and some reworking will have to be done.PhillySkip

;D  Skip.....I had to notch out the maple supports for the Brodak 049 engine but that wasn't a problem, I followed the instructions and installed the tail wheel in the fuselage and then the top block but thats the problem now. I should have tacked it instead I glued it completely and now I'll have a problem installing the push rod for the flaps! Oh well I'll be sure to follow the instructions closer!

RK I started on my Pinto yesterday and have the wing completed except for the cap strips. If I had to do it again I would have sheeted the leading and trailing edges with 1/16 and not the 1/32 they suggested. The 1/32 is very easy to dent or put your finger thru while handling....as me how I know...lol
Also, the inboard wing tip drawing doesn't give you enough info considering the size of the adjustable lead outs they supply. The ones I got were big enough for a Strega! I had to cut them down and used  soft balsa blocks with the lead out installed into the shaped blocks.
Also I noticed that they don't use any plywood doublers in the nose. I'm going to make some doubles out of 1/32 plywood. I don't want the nose breaking off on a not so smooth belly landing . BTW I'm not going to use landing gear,We fly off grass and with wheels that small it would never get airborne. I'll post some pics as I go along, you do the same. Best of luck....PhillySkip

For any who may be interested. We have started shipping the Pinto, & Hunter Stunter with mounting parts for either glow or electric. Many customers have shared with me the difficulties they have had keeping their .049 & .051's running consistently so we created the parts necessary to install the RSM 1/2A electric power system in either model.

Eric if you were going to build it for electric what set up would you recommend? Motor? Esc? Timer? Battery? Thanks ,PhillySkip

If you go to the RSM Dist site I think he lists set ups for plug and play as the twiddly stick(RC) people say.

Just a note here, the Brodak engine is pretty weak, even for an .049. I'd recommend going with something else.  y1

Don't sweat the pics....My plane is about 70% done. I changed the front to use a "Foremost" glass filled  aerodynamic mount. I had to reshape the structure to match the round  mounting surface of the motor mount. It looks really sleek up front. I did have trouble with the flap horn as the "spot weld" came loose. I just made up a new one from stuff we all have, I should have all of the woodwork done by Monday. I need to finish it next week as we have a 1/2A day next Sunday...Pics to follow next week....PhillySkip

Thanks, for the info...BTW I received my eFlight retracts (10-15 sized) and am going to start building my RSM Shark 45 for electric power very soon. It's going to look spectacular when all three gear go up!!! PhillySkip

The Brodak .049 will be a weak engine for the Pinto. You would be better off sticking with the TD.  Post some pics on CEF if you feel inclined to do so.

I wish I knew how to resize the pictures of my finished Pinto so I could post them here. Anyway I flew it yesterday and it flew BEAUTIFULLY! I got a great engine run on the G Mark .061. Flew on .008 lines at 42' . I need more fuel capacity she only flew about 3 minutes on 3/4oz of fuel.   PhillySkip

There is a simple to use free program that will do it for you. It is called Ifanview. http://www.irfanview.com/  Just go to the image dialogue and click resize, set at 25% is usually OK for Stunthanger

Not a kit-build.  This one from plans.  Non-inspirational paint scheme!

Powered by Brodak (I think 0.074)
